Does anyone know if firstly you need to keep pickled crab meat in the fridge before opening? And, secondly, how long does it last for in or out of the fridge in the vinegar pickled and unopened?
I made some for the first time and never thought about putting into the fridge as it is in a vinegar pickle, then someone said something to me and now I am worried as to whether it is ok to eat. I assumed that like all pickled anything that it would last for at least a year out of the fridge unopened. Am I wrong?
Hi Michelle! Thanks for visiting Crab-O-Licious.com and trusting us with your concerns. We're sorry to inform you that we honestly have no idea whether or not your pickling crab is good or bad! We have never pickled crab...yet! So we don't feel we can give you an honest answer to your questions about whether or not you have done things correctly.
We do, though, however, lean towards the way you were thinking about "pickling anything" as it would then make sense as not having to have them stored in the frig. but be able to keep in the pantry like pickles. But, like we said, we honestly have no idea. We've even checked through all our recipes we have for crab and find absolutely nothing about pickling crab. Sorry!
How do I pickel crab?
Pickeled crab? Hmmm...that's a good question! I'm not even sure it sounds appetizing!? To be honest, we've never heard nor considered checking into how to pickel crab. If your seriously on the quest for finding a pickeled crab recipe and find one, please, by all means, let us know!
Catch 'em! Clean 'em! Cook 'em! Eat 'em! Pickel 'em!????
